WILD START

Things I didn't like:

1) The Dallas Stars of periods 1 and 2.

2) Penalties. I think they were having a contest to see who could spend the most time in the box.

3) No "C" on Mo. I'm a huge Morrow fan, but I'm not sure about taking the captain's chair away from Modano. Just doesn't seem right. I know things need to change, but I dunno.

4) Versus. The renamed OLN still didn't put out a great package. Something just felt out of synch about the production.

Things I liked:

1) The Dallas Stars of period 3 and OT.

2) Razor on Versus. The only saving grace to the game's production was that color commentator. He was good. Who is he, anyway?

3) Marty Turco (where the hell was this guy during last year's playoffs??)

4) Barnaby being Barnaby. It wasn't a great fight, but it was good to see that Barnaby is going to be physical for his new team.

5) The "old guys" goal (Lindros' feed to Modano).

6) The "new guy" goal (rookie Loui Eriksson's first NHL goal).

7) "The Pass." Turco caught the Avs taking a nap and slipped the puck up to Sydor, who just just came out of the penalty box and was standing at center ice. He shoots. He scores. Game over.

8) Hockey's back!
