Top 10 Actors (and Their Best Role)

I was having trouble narrowing my list down, so I decided to stick with the more current actors (as opposed to the likes of Jimmy Stewart and company, who I had on my first draft of the list).

10. Laurence Fishburne (Best role: Boyz N the Hood)
Did you know that Morpheus played Cowboy Curtis on Pee-Wee's Playhouse?

9. Christopher Guest (Best role: This is Spinal Tap)
An improv genius. Can't wait to see A Mighty Wind.

8. Tom Hanks (Best role: Philadelphia)
"Number eight? Are you crazy?" Hey, this isn't the Oscars. Get in line.

7. Samuel L. Jackson (Best role: Pulp Fiction)
You know what he is. It's printed on his wallet.

6. Gary Oldman (Best role: The Professional)
Is there a better bad guy in the business?

5. Kevin Spacey (Best role: American Beauty)
While he became a favorite with The Usual Suspects, it was American Beauty that made him great to me.

4. Don Cheadle (Best role: Picket Fences)
I was wondering why my list didn't have any TV actors, and then I realized that there were a few formerly from TV land. I originally had Cheadle's best role listed as Out of Sight, but his long stint as the D.A. on Picket Fences was timeless. So there it is...my one TV reference (unless I go back to #8 and add Bosom Buddies).

3. Harrison Ford (Best role: Indiana Jones)
Indiana Jones, Han Solo, Jack Ryan and the President of the United States. He's the man.

2. John Cusak (Best role: Better Off Dead)
One of the few actors from the great movies of the 80's that actually maintained a career through today. Heck, his movie was number one last weekend.

1. Edward Norton, Jr (Best role: Fight Club)
I still maintain that Ed Norton is one of the greatest actors of this generation. When I saw him in Primal Fear, I knew he was good. When I saw him in American History X, I knew he was great.
